It was a Ronald McDonald House (RMH) filled day on Saturday 22 August for the Rotaract Club of Perth as our members took on the dinner preparation duties for the night. We always thoroughly enjoy volunteering at RMH as we are honoured to cook for patients of Princess Margaret Hospital, their families and RMH volunteers. By providing the food, cooking for about 40 people and interacting with them, we can help to bring some happiness to these families that are undergoing tough times while their child is being treated at PMH.
This time, we decided to have an underlying children’s storybook and movie theme for our menu and Grace, our Vice President, designed a wonderful menu that doubled up as a colouring in sheet for the kids. We had a great time preparing the food and it was a fun bonding activity for our members. The menu included a wide array of vegetarian and meat options and ranged from skewers to spaghetti bolognaise.
We had a few dessert options and the different varieties of cupcakes and gingerbread cookies were very well received. It was once again a wonderful experience and we could not imagine a better way to spend a Saturday than volunteering to cook a meal for deserving children and their families.
